Medicare Supplement Insurance plans (also known as MedSupp or MediGap) help cover certain out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover. There are many different plan types available in most states.
Each plan is labeled with a different letter that corresponds to a certain level of basic benefits. This means that the basic benefits, for a Plan A, for example, are the same across every insurance company that sells Plan A, regardless of location. Most of these plans cover doctor visit co-pays.
This makes it easy to compare Medicare Supplement Insurance plans because the most common difference between plans of the same letter category will be the premium cost and the carrier’s customer service. Some carriers also package discounts for wellness and fitness services, with their Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
Unless you enroll when you first become eligible, pre-existing health conditions could make you ineligible for a Medicare Supplement.
Medicare Supplement Insurance plans don’t include Prescription Drug coverage (Part D) so you will need a stand-alone drug plan.
